1) I learned how to research better, have correct citations for my work and be able to see all the possible ways to get more information about the topic I am researching.

2) I would have liked to spend more time on how to cite formats better MLA/APA.

3) I did not really like blogging through wordpress but it is easier to use than emails or discussion posts on blackborad.

4) there is nothing i didnt like about blogging on wordpress, its easy and simple to use.

5) There is nothing else i would like to add about LALT course, besides that it was a very useful course and helped me improve my research skills.

The 2 databases i will be researching are in biology : Science Direct and BioOne.  Science Direct covers many scholarly” journalsFull-text of 1,900 Elsevier Science journals mainly in the fields of science, technology, and medicine”  and is very helpfully for scientific research, it covers texts from 1823 till present day.M ost of the text available is in english and most of texts are full texts and its available off-campus. BioOne, covers “integrated access to a resource of interrelated journals focused on the biological, ecological and environmental science”.texts from 1920- till present day are available, available off campus, texts available in english also full text available.

To me Science Direct seems easier to use, research wise,  organization wise and text wise. for quick research i guess BioOne would be easier because its very simplified unlike ScienceDirect is better indepth research.

In any case, i would prefer using SciecneDirect because it has more articels and is very scholarly and so is BioOne but i prefer ScienceDirect.

1) What changes occur in the Brains of Adolescents.

2) Academic disciplines related to my research: 1) Biological Psychology 2) cognitive psychology 3) human anatomy 4) cognitive science

3) Majors and Minors related to my research topic: 1) psychology 2)  biology 3) biology minor 4) psychology minor 5) anthropology. The most helpful major to my research question would be Biology

4) Environment Complete (EBSCOhost) and ScienceDirect because they have more information about the human anatomy that can help me reasearch more about the brain and changes that happen in the brain in the teenage years.

1)What Changes occurr in the brains of adolescents:

 2) I searched ASC for the changes that occurr in the brains of adolescents , then limited my results to the articles published in 2004 and found 322 results. one of the articles i choose was, in APA format: Tomarken,Andrew J. Ditcher, Gabriel S.Grober, Judy Simien, Christopher (2004).Resting frontal brain activity: Link ages to the matenal depression and Socio-economic status among adolescents (oct 2004) Vol. 67 issue 1/2 p77-102 26p.http://0-web.ebscohost.com.lib.aucegypt.edu/ehost/detail?vid=6&hid=102&sid=adf87c23-d5d4-4338-95f9-f748c31a0cc8%40sessionmgr10&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZQ%3d%3d#db=a9h&AN=13066690#db=a9h&AN=13066690

 3) I searched ASC and limited my research to scholary journals and found 290 results and chose this article in MLA format: Gimenez, Monica et al. “Hippocampal gray matter reduction associates with memory deficits in adolescents with history of prematurity”. I researched Academic Search Complete for articles on What Changes occur in the brains of Adolescents:

Article 1

Author: Kelly, Janis

Title: Neuroimaging Reveals Insight Into the Teenage Brain.

Date of publication : May 2008

Volume and issue: vol. 9 issue 5

page : 20

Heading: The article presents data from the Longitudinal Brain Imaging Project of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Child Psychiatry Branch, which reveals insights into the brains of teenagers.

Article 2:

AUTHORS: Shaw, P. Greenstein, D. Lerch,  J. Clasen, L.Lenroot, R. Gogtay, N.Evans, A.Rapoport, JGiedd, J

Title: Intellectual ability and cortical development in children and adolescents.

date: March 30, 2006

vol. 44 Issue 7084

page 676-679

Heading: Children who are adept at any one of the three academic ‘R’s (reading, writing and arithmetic) tend to be good at the others, and grow into adults who are similarly skilled at diverse intellectually demanding activities. Determining the neuroanatomical correlates of this relatively stable individual trait of general intelligence has proved difficult, particularly in the rapidly developing brains of children and adolescents
